Saturday 12th<\/sup> September saw the return of a tram service along the streets of Fleetwood to Fleetwood Ferry \u2013 the first time they have been able to run that far since 3rd<\/sup> June. A major fire in a building along Lord Street had meant it hadn\u2019t been safe to do so but after it was shrouded in scaffolding the road was reopened and trams were given the go-ahead to run once again.<\/p>\n

The fact that trams were able to return seemed to be a bit sudden as there had been no real updates from either Wyre Council or Blackpool Transport to say that plans were in hand to reopen the road. Indeed, the last news had been that the Council were planning to take the owners to court as there had been no progress on making the building safe.<\/p>\n

The one time Marks & Spencer \u2013 and more recently an ex-Catalogue Shop \u2013 had caught light on the evening of 3rd<\/sup> June 2026 (suspected arson with two teenagers arrested on suspicion of starting the fire) which had immediately seen tram services suspended and a temporary timetable put in place. This initially only ran to Thornton Gate but it was soon possible to get trams as far as Fisherman\u2019s Walk. Latterly a free bus service was provided on Market Days from there.<\/p>\n

Friday 11th<\/sup> September saw the first tram go beyond Fisherman\u2019s Walk for over three months when 017<\/strong> was used on test runs and then from the start of service on the following day a full service resumed. Trams are now running every 15 minutes (most of the day) from Starr Gate to Fleetwood Ferry (and vice versa) with alternate trams running via North Station.<\/p>\n

London Street tramstop \u2013 Fleetwood bound \u2013 remains closed until further notice because of the proximity of the scaffolding to the northbound platform.<\/p>\n
