The last weekend in September has traditionally been when the East Anglia Transport Museum hold their biggest special event of the year. For many years this was their Trolleybus Weekend but 2025 saw a change with a London Event taking place instead, and now in 2026 things have changed again with the Festival of Transport due to be held.<\/p>\n

Described as their biggest celebration of transport yet, the Festival of Transport will be held on Saturday 26th<\/sup> and Sunday 27th<\/sup> September 2026. The Saturday will see late night opening \u2013 including after dark tram and trolleybus rides! \u2013 with the museum open from 1400 until 2000. The second day of the event will run from 1100 until 1700.<\/p>\n Amongst the highlights of the event will be a celebration of the 100th<\/sup> anniversary of NESA 5. This trolleybus was originally built in 1926 by Garrett in Leiston, Suffolk (hence why it has found a home in preservation at the EATM) before it was exported to Copenhagen in Denmark. After almost 40 years of service in Denmark it returned to the UK and has called Carlton Colville its home for a number of years and now its very significant milestone will be celebrated.<\/p>\n NESA 5 will be part of an intensive trolleybus service and there will also be a regular tram service and the East Suffolk Light Railway will be in operation. There will free vintage bus services around the local area and a free park and ride from Carlton Colville Primary School.<\/p>\n The trams due to be in service haven\u2019t been announced although the museum recently said on their social media accounts that they are hopeful the overhaul and repaint on Blackpool Standard 159<\/strong> may be completed in time to allow it to play a part over the weekend.<\/p>\n Normal admission prices will be in place for the event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The last weekend in September has traditionally been when the East Anglia Transport Museum hold their biggest special event of the year.
