{"id":64496,"date":"2026-09-17T20:00:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-17T19:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=64496"},"modified":"2026-09-17T19:55:22","modified_gmt":"2026-09-17T18:55:22","slug":"tidying-up-the-tyne-and-wear-metro-scrappings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=64496","title":{"rendered":"Tidying up the Tyne and Wear Metro scrappings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since we last reported on the scrappings of redundant Tyne and Wear Metro units there has been one further move \u2013 which means there are only four remaining on the Metro network.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The last train to go for scrap was <strong>4050<\/strong> which was transported to Howdon in between two of its still operational classmates. Those two units were <strong>4041<\/strong> and <strong>4081<\/strong> which continued the tradition of Metrocars going for scrap being towed in between two other examples.<\/p>\n<p>The move took place on Thursday 27<sup>th<\/sup> August 2026.<\/p>\n<p>That means that the remaining four are <strong>4024<\/strong>, <strong>4029<\/strong>, <strong>4041<\/strong> and <strong>4081<\/strong>.
