{"id":64250,"date":"2026-08-20T18:00:39","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T17:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=64250"},"modified":"2026-08-19T19:27:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T18:27:07","slug":"extra-trams-and-special-announcements-for-wythenshawe-park-concerts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=64250","title":{"rendered":"Extra trams and special announcements for Wythenshawe Park concerts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Manchester Metrolink will be running as many double trams as possible at a 7.5 minute frequency to help people get to the Live at Wythenshawe Park concerts which will be taking place on five dates between Friday 21<sup>st<\/sup> and Sunday 30<sup>th<\/sup> August.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Anyone travelling to the events \u2013 which will see acts like The Cure, Lewis Capaldi, Pulp and The Prodigy appearing \u2013 is advised to get on the tram as far as Moor Road tramstop which is then a ten minute walk to the venue.<\/p>\n<p>As has become a bit of a tradition on Metrolink when there are big events, special tramstop announcements will also be recorded with Liam Fray of the Courteeners lending his voice for these.<\/p>\n<p>As well as trams, there will be a special shuttle bus service running from Manchester City Centre and East Didsbury to Wythenshawe Park. There are also a number of Bee Network bus services which run close to the venue too.<\/p>\n<p>To help people attend the events there is an event travel pass available on the Bee Network app for \u00a38, allowing travel on Bee Network bus, tram or shuttle bus on event days.<\/p>\n<p>Fran Wilkinson, Customer and Growth Director at Transport for Greater Manchester, said: \u201c&#8221;We&#8217;re looking forward to helping thousands of people travel to Live from Wythenshawe Park later this month and have put comprehensive plans in place \u2013 including a new \u00a38 travel pass &#8211; to make it as easy as possible for people to get to and from the concerts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPride and big games at the Etihad and Old Trafford are also coming up over the same weekends as the concerts, so expect it to busy in and around the city centre too.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;d encourage everyone to plan ahead, check their travel options before they set off and consider using public transport wherever possible.
