This is set to include additional services on the Metro but there are still warnings that the network will be busy, particularly before and after the run.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As always the run will start in Newcastle and end in South Shields. Nexus have reminded people that is nigh on impossible to see runners in more than one location of the route and so recommend that a choice is made on a location and then stick to it.<\/p>\n<p>The nearest stations to the start of run will be at Haymarket, Monument and Jesmond (all being a 15-20 minute walk from the start line) with South Shields being the closest station to the finish line (again around a 15 minute walk).<\/p>\n<p>Crowd control measures will be in place at some stations whilst others may be closed for a time. Anyone travelling is warned to allow extra time for their journey and to listen to instructions and advice from Nexus staff on travel options.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who knows they will be travelling are also being advised to purchase their tickets in advance rather than having to queue at ticket machines, which are expected to be busy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Great North Run, normally one of the busiest days of the year for the Tyne and Wear Metro, will be taking place this year on Sunday 13th September 2026 with Nexus recently announcing their plans for the day.
