With the tramway running close to the venue it is ideally placed to transport the large number of people heading to the event and this year to help Supertram ran extra services \u2013 including the rare sight of the Purple route going beyond Cathedral. Stuart Cooke was out with his camera to see what was happening.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The change in services saw the following operated:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday 24<sup>th<\/sup> and Saturday 25<sup>th<\/sup> July<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Special timetable from 1100-1800:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blue \u2013 every 12 minutes between Halfway and Middlewood (instead of Malin Bridge)<\/li>\n<li>Purple \u2013 Herdings Park to Malin Bridge with more frequent services<\/li>\n<li>Tram-Train \u2013 normal service<\/li>\n<li>Yellow \u2013 normal service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sunday 26<sup>th<\/sup> July<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Special timetable from 1100-1800:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blue \u2013 Halfway to Malin Bridge every 15 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Purple \u2013 Herdings Park to Middlewood every 15 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Tram-Train \u2013 normal service<\/li>\n<li>Yellow \u2013 normal service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After these times there was either a normal service or immediately following the event stop closures and most services only running to and from Shalesmoor, plus express services from Leppings Lane into the city centre.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_63945\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1.118122-sc.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-63945\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-63945\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1.118122-sc-550x403.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"403\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1.118122-sc-550x403.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1.118122-sc-768x563.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1.118122-sc.jpg 1298w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-63945\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">You don\u2019t often see two trams at Malin Bridge but that is precisely what is seen in this image with 118 and 122 present.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_63946\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2.118-sc.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-63946\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-63946\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2.118-sc-550x413.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2.118-sc-550x413.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2.118-sc-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2.118-sc.jpg 1288w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-63946\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">118 is actually beyond the platform here as it waits for its next duty.
