{"id":63862,"date":"2026-07-20T22:00:21","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T21:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63862"},"modified":"2026-07-20T12:47:38","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T11:47:38","slug":"555-025-becomes-the-41st-stadler-train-to-enter-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63862","title":{"rendered":"555 025 becomes the 42ndStadler train to enter service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>42 of the 46 trains built by Stadler for the Tyne and Wear Metro have now been used in service following the first use of <strong>555 025<\/strong> on Saturday 18<sup>th<\/sup> July 2026.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>555 025<\/strong> has been in northeast England for eight months having been one of three to arrive on 14<sup>th<\/sup> and 15<sup>th<\/sup> November 2025 (it actually making it to Gosforth Depot on the 14<sup>th<\/sup>). As with all units following arrival it has to go through commissioning, testing and mileage accumulation before it can be cleared for service and this was completed in time for it to be allocated for use on 18<sup>th<\/sup> July 2026.<\/p>\n<p>It arrived with <strong>555 024<\/strong> (still to enter service) and <strong>555 030<\/strong> (entered service back on 18<sup>th<\/sup> March 2026).<\/p>\n<p>With <strong>555 025<\/strong> now in service it just leaves <strong>555 022<\/strong> (arrived 20<sup>th<\/sup> February 2026), <strong>555 023<\/strong> (arrived 7<sup>th<\/sup> February 2026), <strong>555 024<\/strong> (arrived 15<sup>th<\/sup> November 2025) and <strong>555 046<\/strong> (arrived 21<sup>st<\/sup> February 2026) to carry passengers on at least one occasion.<\/p>\n<p>Although we are now seeing more Stadler trains commissioned for service that doesn\u2019t mean its the complete end of the Metrocars (class 599s).
