The tram stop would be built at the city end of Nottingham Station viaduct, and has been a long-term aspiration for a while.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In total \u00a315 million has been awarded by the EMCA to Nottingham for transport projects, and of this \u00a32 million is \u201cRevenue Funding for development work\u201d. This would be used to develop a number of projects including development work around Maid Marian Way, the Broad Marsh area connectivity, and an extension of the public realm from the Green Heart along Lister Gate to connect to Old Market Square.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the Broad Marsh area connectivity strand that would include a new tram stop. Indeed when the original line was constructed in the early 2000s ahead of opening in 2004 provision was made for a stop at the city end of the viaduct, although there were no definite plans for it to be built.<\/p>\n<p>Although the nearby Broadmarsh Shopping Centre has now been demolished, a catalyst for this new stop is a new NHS diagnostics centre which is currently being built at Lister Gate.<\/p>\n<p>The funding would only allow development work (not all \u00a32 million is earmarked solely for the stop) ahead of a final decision on whether to proceed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The East Midlands Combined Authority (EMCA) have released funding which is set to go towards additional development work on a proposed extra tram stop on Nottingham Express Transit.
