{"id":63626,"date":"2026-07-04T18:00:05","date_gmt":"2026-07-04T17:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63626"},"modified":"2026-06-27T22:08:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T21:08:18","slug":"around-the-world-in-trams-mattapan-line-3234","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63626","title":{"rendered":"Around the World in Trams: Mattapan Line 3234"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Its time to move on again with \u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d\u00a0 and we are back to the USA for photos taken on the Mattapan Line which is operated by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Mattapan Line runs for 2.6 miles on an old railway alignment and forms part of the Red Line rapid transit line, although to go any further you have to change at Ashmont. It first opened on 26<sup>th<\/sup> August 1929 and uses a fleet of PCCs from the 1940s.<\/p>\n<p>The below photos featured views of <strong>3234<\/strong> which was built by Pullman-Standard Co in 1945. Originally operated by the Boston Elevated Railway Company before passing over to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority control in 1947, and remains in the same ownership today.
