{"id":63577,"date":"2026-07-01T18:00:01","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T17:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63577"},"modified":"2026-07-01T12:41:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T11:41:12","slug":"edinburgh-council-to-investigate-severance-package-to-former-edinburgh-trams-md","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63577","title":{"rendered":"Edinburgh Council to investigate severance package to former Edinburgh Trams MD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cllr Jane Meagher, who is Leader of the City of Edinburgh Council, has promised an investigation into the severance package given to the former Managing Director of Edinburgh Trams when he left his role in January.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Lea Harrison \u2013 who is now Managing Director of Blackpool Transport \u2013 received a severance package of \u00a3327,000 following the merging of the tram and bus operations in the city which saw Lothian Buses\u2019 Sarah Boyd become the new Chief Executive.<\/p>\n<p>The news of the size of this package has been met with consternation around Edinburgh with Unite the Union being particularly vocal in their criticism.<\/p>\n<p>Cllr Meagher said: \u201cI cannot see any justification for someone already on such a high salary receiving this type of pay-off for leaving their job.
