{"id":63530,"date":"2026-06-22T22:00:29","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T21:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63530"},"modified":"2026-06-23T12:47:41","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T11:47:41","slug":"more-metro-scrappings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63530","title":{"rendered":"More Metro scrappings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The week commencing 15<sup>th<\/sup> June 2026 was a busy one for scrap moves on the Tyne and Wear Metro with no fewer than four Metrocars heading off on a one way road journey to Bishop Auckland.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It was four consecutive days which saw moves starting off on Monday 15<sup>th<\/sup> with <strong>4085<\/strong> and then followed by <strong>4009<\/strong> on Tuesday 16<sup>th<\/sup>, <strong>4027<\/strong> on Wednesday 17<sup>th<\/sup> and <strong>4035<\/strong> on Thursday 18<sup>th<\/sup> June.<\/p>\n<p>All four units were moved from Gosforth to Howdon in the usual \u201csandwich move\u201d with two of their still operational classmates doing the honours of escorting them on one final journey.<\/p>\n<p>Once at Howdon they were then loaded onto a low loader and after that it was a road trip to J Denham Metals in Bishop Auckland.<\/p>\n<p>Following the removal of these four it leaves just nine remaining at Gosforth: <strong>4020<\/strong>, <strong>4024<\/strong>, <strong>4029<\/strong>, <strong>4041<\/strong>, <strong>4050<\/strong>, <strong>4068<\/strong>, <strong>4078<\/strong>, <strong>4079<\/strong> and <strong>4081<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The week of 22<sup>nd<\/sup> June 2026 is the last guaranteed week of Metrocars being used in service.
