Siemens Mobility have announced that they have been awarded a contract to deliver the tram-train signalling infrastructure for Cardiff Crossrail \u2013 Wales\u2019 first tram-train line.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
As part of the contract they will design, build, integrate and commission two signalling systems. These will be an on-street running system to manage tram-train operations through the city centre, and a line-of-sight system on the Cardiff Bay mainline. The integration of the two systems will lead to safe, reliable and efficient services linking communities across South Wales.<\/p>\n
Matt Kent, Director of Operations and Manufacturing, Rail Infrastructure, Siemens Mobility UK&I, said: \u201cCardiff\u202fCrossrail will transform how people move across the city\u202fand\u202fgive\u202faccess to jobs and growth for some of\u00a0Wales’\u00a0most\u00a0under served communities. This project will transform rail travel and transport across South Wales, and\u202fwe’re\u202fproud to be delivering the signalling infrastructure that will make it possible, building on our work on the Core Valley Lines Programme.\u201d<\/p>\n
