{"id":63256,"date":"2026-06-07T11:00:52","date_gmt":"2026-06-07T10:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63256"},"modified":"2026-06-07T08:50:01","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T07:50:01","slug":"blackpool-transport-axe-dog-fares","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63256","title":{"rendered":"Blackpool Transport axe dog fares"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You will be able to take your dog on board Blackpool Transport\u2019s buses and trams for free as from Monday 1<sup>st<\/sup> June 2026 following the decision to remove the long-standing \u00a31 fare for man\u2019s best friend.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Jamie Swift, Head of Commercial at Blackpool Transport, explains more (and beware there are plenty of dog puns here!): \u201cThe \u2018Rover\u2019 ticket has been a long tradition here in Blackpool and dates back to well before dogs were allowed on many other networks in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, after listening to feedback from customers, we believe that charging for pampered pooches may actually put some people off using our services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we want our trams and buses to provide the \u2018paw-fect\u2019 way to travel for everyone, this nominal fee has found itself in the dog house and been consigned to history!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whilst dogs can now travel for free, their two legged companions will need to have a valid ticket for travel.
