With the usual \u201cprepare in advance\u201d warning Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) have confirmed to help people get to the starting line there will be additional double trams out on Metrolink.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Runners will be taking part in either a 10k route through Salford, Trafford and Manchester City Centre or for the more adventurous a half marathon which will go further east.<\/p>\n<p>Both events will start on Portland Street, near the junction with Oxford Street, and finish on Deansgate with the advice being that the tram will be the best way to get with the start line just a short walk from St Peter\u2019s Square and not too far from Piccadilly Gardens either.<\/p>\n<p>Danny Vaughan, TfGM Chief Network Officer, said: \u201cThe Great Manchester Run is always one of the highlights of the city\u2019s events calendar, bringing a fantastic festival atmosphere to the streets of Manchester, Trafford and Salford.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith tens of thousands of people expected to travel into the city region it will undoubtedly be a very busy day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to make sure everyone can take part in or enjoy the event, which is why we encourage people to plan ahead, allow extra time for their journey and check the latest travel information before setting off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately the engineering works currently taking place in the city centre will be finished in time for the run (due to be finished on 29<sup>th<\/sup> May) so a normal Sunday timetable will be in service across the networking seeing trams every 15 minutes.
