The collision happened between the McDonald Road and Balfour Street stops close to Shrubhill House student accommodation.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Police Scotland\u2019s enquiries are continuing into what happened for the woman to be hit by the tram. Local reports in the Edinburgh Evening News suggest that she was crossing the road with bags of household waste shortly before the incident.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the incident no tram services were able to run between St Andrew Square and Newhaven with ticket acceptance put in place on Lothian Bus services between the two stops.
