{"id":63049,"date":"2026-05-14T20:00:52","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T19:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63049"},"modified":"2026-05-14T19:23:27","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T18:23:27","slug":"edinburgh-trams-to-possibly-be-disrupted-on-sunday-17th-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63049","title":{"rendered":"Edinburgh Trams to possibly be disrupted on Sunday 17th May"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Edinburgh Trams may have to operate a split service on Sunday 17<sup>th<\/sup> May \u2013 but its not known for certain if they will be yet as it is all dependent on whether Hearts FC win the Scottish Premier League title the previous day (and probably down to what VAR may have to say on the day!).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>If, and it remains an if at the moment as they lead Celtic by a single point at the top of the table and the two will meet in Glasgow on Saturday, they do clinch the title then an open top bus victory parade will take place on Sunday 17<sup>th<\/sup> May \u2013 and the planned route will pass three city centre tramstops: Princes Street, West End and Haymarket.<\/p>\n<p>For safety reasons it will be necessary to de-energise the line between Picardy Place and Edinburgh Park Station and that will lead to a split service running:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Newhaven to Picardy Place<\/li>\n<li>Edinburgh Park Station to Airport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No trams will operate to or from St Andrew Square, Princes Street, West End, Haymarket, Murrayfield, Balgreen, Saughton, and Bankhead.<\/p>\n<p>If the parade does take place the change would be in place for all of Sunday 17<sup>th<\/sup> May, with normal services resuming the following morning.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements have been made for Edinburgh Trams tickets to be accepted on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Scotrail services from Edinburgh Park Station to Edinburgh Waverley<\/li>\n<li>Airlink bus services to the Airport<\/li>\n<li>If going from the Airport tickets from the vending machines will not be accepted with passengers advised to use Airlink, service 17 or service 18 but having to purchase a ticket for those services<\/li>\n<li>Lothian Bus services 1 (Saughton to Leith Street), 2 (Hermiston Gait to Lothian Road), 22 (Gyle Centre to Lothian Road)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Anyone using the bus services is also advised that they will be subject to diversion in the city centre.<\/p>\n<p>But all this is still an if, but or maybe as it won\u2019t be known until 1415-1430 on Saturday whether Hearts will be celebrating or not!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Edinburgh Trams may have to operate a split service on Sunday 17th May \u2013 but its not known for certain if they will be yet as it is all dependent on whether Hearts FC win the Scottish Premier League title &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=63049\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[11],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/63049"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=63049"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/63049\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":63050,"href":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/63049\/revisions\/63050"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=63049"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=63049"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=63049"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
