In this round-up we take a quick look at these recent changes.

Back in September 2025, Bombardier CR4000s 2542 and 2548 departed Therapia Lane Depot for repairs. It was the intention that the two good halves of the trams would be combined to make one good tram and the last we had reported was that the newly formed 2548 was due back on 3rd October 2025.

2548 has indeed returned and it is now back in service, to give a boost to the operating fleet which has been suffering from shortages over the past few years.

Back in September 2025, CR4000 2537 received a special half wrap to commemorate 25 years of Transport for London. This was only a short-lived wrap though as the tram has now lost these vinyls and is back running in normal fleet livery once again. The exact date of the removal of the vinyls are not known.

And finally, not previously reported on these pages is the scrapping of 2551. This was the tram that was involved in the tragic accident at Sandilands on 9th November 2016 leading to the deaths of seven people. Having been moved to the RAIB’s premises at Farnborough it was noted in articles when Booths, Rotherham went into administration in early 2026 that the tram was one of the last vehicles to be scrapped before this happened.

2548 pulls into East Croydon, now back in service as a reformed tram using good sections of 2542 and 2548.

2537 back in full fleet livery.
