We change locations again in \u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d and this time we head over to the United States of America with May being San Francisco month.<\/p>\n

As many will know, San Francisco\u2019s Market Street Railway operate a large number of PCC streetcars which they acquired from various locations across the USA and then set about restoring to service and its some of these examples that we will feature over the course of the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

First to be featured is 1055<\/strong> which was built in 1948 for the Philadelphia Transportation Company and numbered 2122<\/strong>. Muni in San Francisco ended up acquiring 14 of the Philadelphia PCCs after the city abandoned their trolley operation of which 2122<\/strong> was one. It was restored by Muni in 1993 and as with many of the PCCs now running on the F-line it was painted in a historic livery \u2013 the car carries Philadelphia Transportation Company livery.<\/p>\n
