The trial started in July 2013 and saw more than 5,000 cyclists travelling on the DLR with no major problems reported.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Allowing bikes on the DLR is all part of the Mayor of London\u2019s, Boris Johnson if you needed reminding, Vision for Cycling in London which hopes to make the city somewhere where cycling is a part of everyday life. Boris Johnson commented: \u201cOpening up the Docklands Light Railway to cyclists will be a great boost to the cycling community and make it much more convenient for cyclists to cross the river. This is another important step forward in our mission to make it easier for more people to get cycling in the capital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DLR Director Rory O\u2019Neill added: \u201cAll cyclists are now welcome to use DLR services during off-peak hours and at all time on weekends and Bank Holidays. This follows our successful six-month trial during which the London Cycling Campaign provided advice and assistance.
