Transport for Greater Manchester are warning people that trams will be busy and to avoid travelling at busy times, if possible.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In previous years Manchester Marathon day has been one of the busiest of the year on Metrolink, and 2026 is expected to be no different. Whilst the tram frequency will remain the standard 15 minutes on each route throughout the day, a revised service will be running to provide more capacity on the Altrincham line which is closest to the route of the Marathon.<\/p>\n<p>Trams will run as follows on Sunday 19<sup>th<\/sup> April:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bury to Piccadilly<\/li>\n<li>Altrincham to Victoria<\/li>\n<li>Altrincham to Etihad Campus<\/li>\n<li>Eccles to Ashton-under-Lyne via MediaCityUK<\/li>\n<li>Rochdale to East Didsbury<\/li>\n<li>Manchester Airport to Deansgate-Castlefield<\/li>\n<li>The Trafford Centre to Crumpsall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is expected that for the Marathon \u2013 which starts from 0855 \u2013 the stops at Altrincham, Timperley, Sale, Brooklands, and Stretford will be the busiest. Passengers may be asked to queue to board a tram, and if travelling at busy times it may take 30 minutes longer than usual.
