Nottingham Express Transit have launched a search for the 2026 Community Hero with the lucky winner set to have a tram named after them. They are looking for unsung heroes who are making a difference in the city having gone above and beyond to show kindness, lead change through local activism or have shown an exemplary commitment to excellence and hard work.<\/p>\n

Alison Sweeney, Head of Marketing at NET, explains more: \u201cMany of our trams are named after notable people in our city, whether that\u2019s Olympians Torvill and Dean, sports star Mary Earps, or fashion designer Sir Paul Smith. It\u2019s a high praise to receive, and we wanted to be able to extend that opportunity towards people who do so much but perhaps go under the radar. That\u2019s why we start the process off with a public nomination, so locals can have their say and we can learn more about who\u2019s really making a difference in our city.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year, due to overwhelming demand, our \u2018community hero\u2019 tram was named after an individual and an organisation, and we\u2019re excited to see who people nominate this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
The lucky winner will see their name on Incentro 204 for 12 months. The tram currently carries dual names \u2013 Dr Marcellus Baz BEM (who was founder and CEO of the charity Switch Up) and Pulp Friction (a local charity organisation).<\/p>\n
To nominate a person, locals are being encouraged to share the details of the true impact their community hero has made, sharing videos and photos to support their nomination. All nominees must live, work or study in Nottinghamshire and be available to attend a naming ceremony in either May, June or July.<\/p>\n
After nominations have been received there will be a rigorous consideration process ahead of a shortlist being prepared for a panel of judges who will make the final decision.<\/p>\n
