The LRSSB backed safety campaign \u201cTWO LINES = STOP\u201d has been contributing to increased safety around UK tramways, according to the results of a recent survey. Of those questioned up to 70% said they had changed their behaviour when close to tramways having spotted the eye-catching graphics seen across the UK.<\/p>\n

The \u201cTWO LINES = STOP\u201d campaign has been introduced in Edinburgh, Nottingham, Blackpool, Sheffield, the West Midlands and Croydon with the sole aim of alerting the public to the danger of crossing tram tracks when not paying attention. It includes brightly coloured signage (bespoke for each system) which is used at high footfall areas on each system.<\/p>\n
Carly Swift, Marketing and Communications Manager at the LRSSB, said: \u201cThe initiative has been embraced by all the UK\u2019s second-generation light rail systems, and this study shows it is having a real impact on tackling the leading risk to tramway safety.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe campaign has proved particularly successful in Edinburgh and Nottingham, but it is also delivering positive results in other cities, including Blackpool, Sheffield and the West Midlands.<\/p>\n
\u201cOverall, feedback on the campaign has been extremely encouraging, with nearly three quarters of those interviewed saying it delivers a clear and consistent message, with the core instruction to stop and look for trams before crossing landing strongly.\u201d<\/p>\n
