We go \u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d again and we remain in Amsterdam for a view of another Works Car.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve seen it in the UK on numerous occasions where a tram\u2019s conversion into a Works Car has enabled it to survive into preservation and that is exactly the case for the below vehicle as well. This is Amsterdam Works Car H9<\/strong> which can trace its history all the way back to 1929 when it entered service as no. 914<\/strong> \u2013 an unpowered trailer car. It remained like this until 1937 when it was converted to a motor, before in 1972 it became a Works Car as we see here.<\/p>\n

H9<\/strong> would remain a Works Car until 1988 as which point it was withdrawn and would then be restored to a passenger vehicle and used as a museum car in Amsterdam from 1992. Then it was transferred to Wehmingen in Germany from 2011 to continue its preservation career.<\/p>\n

This photo was taken in 1980 and shows H9<\/strong> outside the Central Works.<\/p>\n
