And repeat! The past seven days have seen more changes to the available Tyne and Wear Metro train fleet as we have once again seen two head off for scrap whilst one of the new Stadler trains has entered service.<\/p>\n

The latest two scrappings are 4032<\/strong> and 4015<\/strong>. 4032<\/strong> departed on Wednesday 4th<\/sup> March and then 4015<\/strong> followed it on Thursday 5th<\/sup> March 2026.<\/p>\n As is almost always the case they were moved to Howdon from Gosforth by still operational classmates (although how much longer that will happen who knows as there aren\u2019t too many left!). From there GCS Johnson collected them and drove them to J Denham Metals in Bishop Auckland, where the final action of their careers took place \u2013 scrapping (or recycling as Nexus like to tell us).<\/p>\n These two scrappings leave just 19 still of the original Metrocars still on the network, although not all remain operational. Indeed, there are now only limited diagrams left being operated by the trains. The advice remains if you want a Metrocar then you better get to the northeast sooner rather than later!<\/p>\n Whilst we have seen two scrapped this week, we have also seen another of the Stadler trains enter service for the first time. The latest example to welcome its first passengers on board is 555 032<\/strong>, with it first being reported out on 4th<\/sup> March 2026.<\/p>\n 555 032<\/strong> was delivered on 8th<\/sup> August 2025 (along with 555 019<\/strong> and 555 039<\/strong>) and was the oldest (by delivery) unit on the network which had yet to enter service.<\/p>\n There are now only 14 of the 46 trains which have yet to enter service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" And repeat!
