With the museum set to open for the first time in 2026 on Saturday 14<sup>th<\/sup> March preparations are well underway to commission trams for service, and again a mixed fleet of trams is set to be made available for service.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Initially the following trams will be commissioned:<\/p>\n<p>London County Council 1<\/p>\n<p>Glasgow 22<\/p>\n<p>Blackpool 40<\/p>\n<p>Blackpool &amp; Fleetwood 40<\/p>\n<p>Sheffield 74<\/p>\n<p>Newcastle 102<\/p>\n<p>London County Council 106<\/p>\n<p>Blackpool 167<\/p>\n<p>Blackpool 236<\/p>\n<p>Oporto 273<\/p>\n<p>Leeds 345<\/p>\n<p>Leeds 399<\/p>\n<p>Sheffield 510<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool 869<\/p>\n<p>London Transport 1622<\/p>\n<p>Subject to the completion of its motor overhaul <strong>Blackpool 762<\/strong> should also join the fleet, and <strong>Metropolitan Electric Tramways 331<\/strong> may also be used later in the season subject to the completion of controller work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blackpool 645<\/strong>\u2019s conversion to become the new Access Tram is due to be completed this year and when that is done it too will join the operating fleet of trams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chesterfield 7<\/strong> and <strong>Blackpool 630<\/strong> remain in reserve whilst <strong>Blackpool 166<\/strong> and <strong>Leeds 180<\/strong> are likely to remain out of use until 2027 to allow controller work to take place. Work on overhauling <strong>Johannesburg 60<\/strong> is also due to start this summer, although its not expected to be completed to run in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The National Tramway Museum opens on Saturday 14<sup>th<\/sup> March and will then be open every single Saturday to Thursday until Sunday 1<sup>st<\/sup> November.
