West Midlands Metro 58<\/strong> has a new wrap and its first ever name with it now promoting Peaky Blinders following a special unveiling ceremony in Centenary Square on 2nd<\/sup> March 2026. The tram is now named Steven Knight (after the creator of the hit TV series, which has now spawned a film) and will be carrying the vinyls for the next 12 months.<\/p>\n

This livery is the third time that 58<\/strong> has carried special advertising vinyls and follows on from adverts for KFC (July-August 2024) and Birmingham City University (September 2024-October 2025). The new vinyls are a dark colour and say \u201cHome of the Peaky Blinders\u201d with an image of Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby.<\/p>\n

As well as the vinyls the tram is also now named \u201cSteven Knight\u201d, who is the creator of Peaky Blinders, which was originally broadcast on the BBC. A new film is being released at cinemas nationwide on 6th<\/sup> March and will then be available on Netflix from 20th<\/sup> March. The naming took place in Centenary Square on 2nd<\/sup> March (which meant that for a time on that day no trams ran Grand Central-Edgbaston Village) and recognises his commitment to championing Birmingham and the West Midlands on screen and his support for the region\u2019s film industry.<\/p>\n

Steven Knight said: \u201cThis is a great honour for me, on a day when the world\u2019s gaze is on my home city, Birmingham, for the world premiere of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. I am immensely proud of where I am from, and everything that goes on in this great city and look forward to help develop the cultural growth of the West Midlands as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sophie Allison, West Midlands Metro Managing Director, added: \u201cThis was a fantastic day for the city, and we were proud to have played a leading role in celebrations to mark the return of the Peaky Blinders!<\/p>\n

\u201cLike the film, we\u2019re sure the eye-catching tram will prove a huge hit with fans and the wider travelling public, and having Steven\u2019s name on the side of tram 58<\/strong> will act as a permanent reminder of the creative talent to be found in the communities we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n
