More than 10,000 dog journeys have been recorded on South Yorkshire Supertram since the change on policy to allow them on-board trams was introduced.<\/p>\n

Following a trial from March 2025, the decision to allow dogs on-board was made permanent in October 2025. The policy now allows one well-behaved dog per passenger, previously only assistance dogs or those in carry cages were permitted. New figures have now shown that since that March 2025 reintroduction more than 10,000 trips have been made with dogs.<\/p>\n
Oliver Coppard, South Yorkshire Mayor, said: \u201cThe message has been loud and clear; people love being able to take their dogs on the tram. I\u2019m paws-itively delighted we\u2019ve seen over 10,000 dogs on trams since we made that decision over a year ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe took the tram back under public control just under two years ago, and this is why; because people across South Yorkshire want a system designed in the interests of our communities. But it\u2019s obviously not just about dogs.<\/p>\n
“For the whole of 2026 we\u2019re cutting or freezing all adult fares on the Supertram, we\u2019re opening a new tram stop at Magna, and we\u2019ve just been awarded millions of pounds by the government to help us explore how to expand the network in future. Since we took the tram back under public control we\u2019ve doubled investment in the network to over \u00a315 million, and we\u2019ll be investing \u00a3110 million by 2027.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reaching over 10,000 dog journeys is a fantastic milestone, and a real sign of how well the change is working for our customers.<\/p>\n
