{"id":62040,"date":"2026-02-27T18:00:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T18:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=62040"},"modified":"2026-02-22T08:41:40","modified_gmt":"2026-02-22T08:41:40","slug":"picture-in-time-paisley-68-blackpool-49","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=62040","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Paisley 68 &#038; Blackpool 49"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back to Crich again for another edition of \u201cPicture in Time\u201d and its still 1984.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This visit obviously took place on a warm day and it was also a very busy day judging by the full loads on all the trams we can see in this latest image. The occasion of this event seems to be the silver jubilee (25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary) of the National Tramway Museum and on the left we see <strong>Paisley 68<\/strong> with special signs celebrating this fact.<\/p>\n<p>Both the trams which are the main focus of this photo are non-runners at Crich today but in 1984 they were clearly both valuable members of the operational trams. <strong>Paisley 68<\/strong> (now back to its Glasgow identity as <strong>1068<\/strong>) entered service in 1968 and would run most years until 2009. A return came in 2012 (which is when it became <strong>Glasgow 1068<\/strong> again) but withdrawal came in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>As for <strong>Blackpool Standard 49<\/strong>, it would run between 1964 and 1976 and then from 1978 until 1992.
