{"id":61553,"date":"2026-01-16T18:00:54","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T18:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=61553"},"modified":"2026-01-11T10:42:53","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T10:42:53","slug":"picture-in-time-blackpool-rail-crane-260-and-brush-259","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=61553","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Blackpool Rail Crane 260 and Brush 259"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are back to Blackpool tonight for the latest \u201cPicture in Time\u201d and its another outing for the Works Cars in 1994.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Last week we saw <strong>Works Brush 259<\/strong> in Thornton Gate Permanent Way Yard and this photo is taken on the same day, 14<sup>th<\/sup> April 1994, as the tram goes along North Promenade heading south at Warley Road. The tram is actually propelling <strong>Rail Crane 260<\/strong> which is fitted with a crane. There is also a length of rail on the trailer in this shot.<\/p>\n<p>We met <strong>259<\/strong> properly last week so let us take a look at the trailer in a bit more detail this time out. <strong>260<\/strong> was once also a Brush Car with it being converted from no. <strong>291<\/strong> (latterly <strong>628<\/strong>) in 1973, with it having been withdrawn as a passenger tram in 1969. Originally numbered <strong>751<\/strong>, in 1986 it would receive the number 260 which is the number it retained until the end.
