We start off another year of \u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d and for January 2026 it will be a case of anything goes as we will dart all over the world for the next five editions!<\/p>\n

And for this edition we are heading into Hungary as we take a look at a couple of trams operating in Debrecen. This is Hungary\u2019s second biggest city (after Budapest) and has a population of just over 201,500. Its tramway runs on standard gauge and was a relatively late opening with the first electric line stating operation in 1911. That first line still remains operational today and after a period of contraction, the current line 2 started in 2014 to make up the current two line network.<\/p>\n

The tramway is now served by two different classes of tram. There are 10 Ganz KCSV-6 trams of which the production models started to be introduced from 1997 and they were joined from 2014 by 18 CAF Urbos3 models.<\/p>\n

And its two of those Urbos3s trams which we see in this photo. On the left is 518<\/strong> (built 2013) and its joined by 511<\/strong> (also built 2013, but six months earlier than its fellow photo star).<\/p>\n
