{"id":61259,"date":"2025-12-20T14:00:24","date_gmt":"2025-12-20T14:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=61259"},"modified":"2025-12-20T13:50:50","modified_gmt":"2025-12-20T13:50:50","slug":"extra-edinburgh-trams-services-for-the-1872-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=61259","title":{"rendered":"Extra Edinburgh Trams services for the 1872 Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Edinburgh Trams will once again be running additional services for a major rugby match at Murrayfield Stadium with an enhanced service due to run on Saturday 27<sup>th<\/sup> December 2025 for the 1872 Cup match between Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Since 1872 the two sides have contested club rugby\u2019s oldest derby in a clash that sees national team-mates turned into rivals. There are two matches in the contest \u2013 one in Glasgow and one in Edinburgh \u2013 with the first match taking place on 20<sup>th<\/sup> December in Glasgow before the return match on 27<sup>th<\/sup> December in Edinburgh. Last year each side one their respective home ties but Glasgow Warriors were the winners on aggregate 40-21. In fact its was the 2021-22 season the last time that Edinburgh were triumphant.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Singh, Head of Service Delivery at Edinburgh Trams, said: \u201cThe 1872 Cup is always a sporting calendar highlight here in Edinburgh, and this year is expected to be no different.
