The West Midlands Metro have become the latest UK tramway to refresh the \u201cTWO LINES = STOP\u201d safety campaign ahead of the opening of the Birmingham Eastside extension as far as Millennium Point.<\/p>\n

Driver training is already underway on the extension and the relaunch of the campaign both in Birmingham City Centre and in other sections of the tramway is a timely reminder to everyone of the importance of taking care and attention when close to the trams.<\/p>\n
Anthony Stanley, Metro\u2019s Head of Operations and Safety, said: \u201cSafety is, and always will be, our top priority. As we embark on crucial driver training for the Birmingham Eastside extension, raising public awareness is more critical than ever, especially for new passengers and community members who will be encountering the tram for the first time.\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u201cTWO LINES = STOP\u201d campaign is run in conjunction with the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board (LRSSB) and has been seen on tramways across the UK in a push to improve pedestrian safety in towns and cities.<\/p>\n
Carl Williams, LRSSB Chief Executive, said: \u201cWe\u2019re delighted that the Metro is re-running the campaign at a crucial time for the network, and I\u2019m sure the eye-catching graphics will help to tackle pedestrian inattention, one of the biggest challenges faced by all tramway operators.\u201d<\/p>\n
