Matthew has been at the organisation for 18 months supporting a host of projects as a research coordinator and will now move into this newly created role.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As Standards Manager he will be responsible for developing, maintaining and continually improving LRSSB\u2019s standards and guidance documents, ensuring they reflect best practice, emerging technologies, and lessons learned from historic safety-related incidents.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew commented: \u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to this new challenge and to working closely with operators, manufacturers, local authorities and the wider light rail sector to make sure standards align with their needs while driving down the risk of accidents and other hazardous events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the role, Matthew will also be the first point of contact for BSI assigned committees, working groups associated with CEN\/ISO standards, and collaborators whilst encouraging stakeholder participation and engaging with international standards bodies.<\/p>\n<p>Craig O\u2019Brien, LRSSB Head of Engineering Safety and Innovation, said: \u201cOver the past several years, it\u2019s become clear that constant development and a review of standards is a high priority for the sector, and we have recognised a real need to have a dedicated standards manager.
