{"id":60782,"date":"2025-12-25T08:00:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-25T08:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=60782"},"modified":"2025-12-23T20:38:22","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T20:38:22","slug":"uktram-share-their-vision-for-future-growth-at-uitp-meeting-in-toronto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=60782","title":{"rendered":"UKTram share their vision for future growth at UITP meeting in Toronto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Steve Duckering, UKTram\u2019s Operations Manager, spent time at the 81<sup>st<\/sup> UITP Light Rail Committee Meeting in Toronto from 27<sup>th<\/sup> to 29<sup>th<\/sup> October 2025, and whilst there as well as representing the UK light rail sector also shared the UKTram vision for future growth.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Steve presented \u201cA Vision in Motion: UKTram\u2019s Blueprint for the Next Phase of Light Rail\u201d which outlined the organisation&#8217;s long-term strategy and the work of its member systems to strengthen the case for sustainable urban transport. He also highlighted growing international interest in the Very Light Rail trial in Coventry which sparked discussion on modular track innovation and autonomous technology.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee Meeting is a biannual event and brings together representatives from systems across Europe, North America, Asia and South America. In this meeting they got together to explore emerging trends in light rail, such as vehicle maintenance and socioeconomic impact.<\/p>\n<p>Delegates also enjoyed a tour of Toronto\u2019s extensive streetcar network and maintenance facilities to gain insight into the operation of a 24-hour system serving one of North America\u2019s largest cities.<\/p>\n<p>Steve commented: \u201cThe UITP Light Rail Committee offers a truly global platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration.
