This phase of work is seeing rail being replaced at Infirmary Road leading to no trams running beyond Shalesmoor to either Malin Bridge or Middlewood. In this pictorial article we take a look at the first couple of days of work as well as some of the unusual tram movements at Shalesmoor. Photography from Stuart Cooke.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The work on Infimary Road is taking place between Sunday 26<sup>th<\/sup> and Friday 31<sup>st<\/sup> October 2025.<\/p>\n<p>During this period trams run:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BLUE \u2013 Halfway to Shalesmoor<\/li>\n<li>YELLOW \u2013 Meadowhall to Cathedral (after 2000 and on the Sunday trams ran Meadowhall to Shalesmoor)<\/li>\n<li>PURPLE and TRAM-TRAIN \u2013 running as normal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Replacement buses run:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BL1 \u2013 Shalesmoor to Malin Bridge<\/li>\n<li>YE1 \u2013 Castle Square to Middlewood (after 2000 and on the Sunday this only runs Shalesmoor to Middlewood)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_60653\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1.infirmary-sc.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-60653\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-60653\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1.infirmary-sc-550x413.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1.infirmary-sc-550x413.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1.infirmary-sc-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1.infirmary-sc.jpg 1288w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-60653\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">On the first day of the closure work was taking place to remove the old track.
