{"id":60168,"date":"2025-09-19T20:00:23","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T19:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=60168"},"modified":"2025-09-19T19:24:54","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T18:24:54","slug":"luas-issue-update-after-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=60168","title":{"rendered":"Luas issue update after fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Luas services are unlikely to be running to The Point until at least the end of November with repair works now underway on the bridge which was damaged by a non-tram related fire on Tuesday 19<sup>th<\/sup> August 2025.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The fire broke out underneath George\u2019s Dock Bridge in the IFSC close to Connolly Station at 1900 on Tuesday 19<sup>th<\/sup> August 2025 and caused significant damage to the structural beams, abutments and rail systems of the bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Following the fire emergency procedures were immediately put into place which saw all Luas services suspended and it has remained the same ever since. It wasn\u2019t until 23<sup>rd<\/sup> August that Transport Infrastructure Ireland and Transdev (operator of Luas) were given access to the bridge to assess the damage and their assessment was that significant damage had occurred.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday 4<sup>th<\/sup> September the overhead wires in the vicinity were removed to allow better access to maintenance crews. Work to demolish the existing bridge deck and install a replacement deck have now started.<\/p>\n<p>It is anticipated that the works will be completed by the end of November.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime no Luas services are running between Connolly and The Point.
