The first public tram services started running on the tramway on this day (28<sup>th<\/sup> August) in 1970, between Riverside and Bobsworth Bridge (just short of the new Seaton Wetlands halt). To help celebrate the occasion there was a special anniversary weekend on Saturday 23<sup>rd<\/sup> and Sunday 24<sup>th<\/sup> August and in this article we take a look at a selection of images taken during that event. Steven Hughes with the images.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Over the course of the weekend all 12 operational passenger trams were used in service (the only passenger tram at the tramway which didn\u2019t run was long-term absentee <strong>7<\/strong>). On Saturday 23<sup>rd<\/sup> August <strong>2<\/strong>, <strong>4<\/strong>, <strong>6<\/strong>, <strong>8<\/strong>, <strong>9<\/strong>, <strong>10<\/strong>, <strong>11<\/strong>, <strong>12<\/strong>, <strong>14<\/strong> and <strong>16<\/strong> were all used in service (<strong>4<\/strong> as a replacement for 6) whilst <strong>15<\/strong> and <strong>19<\/strong> joined in on the fun on Sunday 24<sup>th<\/sup> August.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A video of the first day of the event, also from Steven Hughes, \u00a0can be viewed on YouTube at <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/HGdcXVK6ZE8?si=muah_D7zneCp5sms\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/HGdcXVK6ZE8?si=muah_D7zneCp5sms<\/a>. We see the tram here just arriving at Riverside Halt with a service heading to Colyton. This is an ex-Bournemouth tram which was converted for use at Seaton in 1992 and is a valuable member of the enclosed fleet for those days when the weather is less than pleasant.
