In this series we take a look at the same location before or during construction of Metrolink and once the trams have started running. Thanks to Keith Chadbourne for these latest images as we see a few more locations.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In this edition we are at St Peter\u2019s Square, a location which is very familiar on this website with it now being one of the main hubs of the Manchester Metrolink. This bus company \u2013 with an interesting colour combo! \u2013 was created following bus deregulation and was based in Eccles. They ran a fleet of Bristol RE\u2019s.<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_58496\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1b.stpeters-kc.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-58496\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-58496\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1b.stpeters-kc-550x412.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1b.stpeters-kc-550x412.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1b.stpeters-kc-768x575.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1b.stpeters-kc.jpg 1281w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-58496\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Its 26 years later now and we\u2019re onto the second Metrolink stop at St Peter\u2019s Square with it now being the UK\u2019s only four platform tram stop on a modern tram system. Its hard to believe we\u2019re in the same place as the surrounding area is so different when viewed from this side (at least with photos from the other side you have the Town Hall and Central Library to provide a form of reference. Nearest to the camera are the platforms towards Exchange Square and Piccadilly Gardens whilst on the far side 3059 is preparing to go out of the city. This image was captured on 25th April 2025.
