The Tyne and Wear Metro is once again playing a starring role on the Newcastle theatre stage as part of a new play \u2013 Dogs on the Metro \u2013 now playing at the Live Theatre until 17th<\/sup> May. The stage has been made to look like a Metro platform and that\u2019s not where the connection ends as there plenty of other Metro items on show too.<\/p>\n

The play is written by Emilie Robson and stars Sarah Balfour and Dean Logan in a journey through friendship, lost youth and the joys of people watching. It follows friends Jen and Dean over a series of days, months and years as they travel back and forth on the Metro. As the carriage moves on they navigate their way through the tunnels of memory and perception to come to terms with a pivotal event that changes everything.<\/p>\n

The iconic Metro carriage has been brought to life on the stage using actual handrails from a Metro train. Extra authenticity has been added through recorded announcements from the Metro public address system, used station signage, and the familiar door tones.<\/p>\n
