Its time for \u201cPicture in Time\u201d again and we stay on the Isle of Man.<\/p>\n

From last week\u2019s image of something you haven\u2019t been able to experience for over 20 years to this week\u2019s of something which is a very common occurrence. This time we feature Tunnel Car 5<\/strong> sitting at Derby Castle terminus in between duties on 16th<\/sup> November 2002. With it being winter its running as single motor with no trailer in sight, indeed over people seem rather sparse as well. The Strathallan depot of the horse tramway can be seen on the far side.<\/p>\n

1894 built 5<\/strong> was once one of six Tunnel Cars (two were destroyed in the Laxey Car Shed fire of 1930) and remains an integral part of the MER operating fleet in 2025. Over the last 130 years the tram has seen extensive use but has also enjoyed periods out of use for full overhauls, including three years at the end of the 20th<\/sup> century. But now its back and sees regular use on the line between Derby Castle and Ramsey.<\/p>\n
