These fare changes will allow us to continue to maintain and improve the tram network for the benefit of the customer.”

Most fares will increase (but not all) from this date with some of the headline changes being:

Adult Single (city zone) – £2.20 (was £2.00)

Adult Return (city zone) – £4.20 (was £3.80)

Adult Day (city zone) – £5.50 (was £5.00)

Adult Single (Airport) – £7.90 (was £7.50)

Adult Return (Airport) – £9.50 (was £9.50)

Adult Day (Airport) – £12.50 (was £12.00)

Cllr Stephen Jenkinson, Transport and Environment Convener, said: “Edinburgh Trams provides an award winning and vital service to our city, with over 12 million journeys completed last year alone. We’ve all seen the benefits from Trams to Newhaven and it’s fair to say that the arrival of the trams has breathed a new lease of life into the north of the Capital.

“I realise that these fare increases are a difficult reality in the current economic climate. However, it’s vital that we continue to invest in and protect our tram network, whilst continuing with our bold vision for a new tram line from North-South in the future.

“Keeping Edinburgh moving is my priority and I’ll continue to work alongside Edinburgh Trams to make that happen.”

Discounted bundles of tickets can still be purchased on the et app and some ticket types can also be pre-booked on Edinburgh Ticket. All other tickets can be purchased on the day from ticket machines located at all stops.

The cost of travelling on the Edinburgh Trams system is set to increase from Sunday 6th April to help the firm meet the increased operational costs faced by the operator, and is in line with similar changes being made by … Continue reading →

[11
