Have you ever wondered who the voice of the Tyne and Wear Metro is? Well, if you have it has now been revealed by Nexus as professional voiceover artist, Mark Bryant. He has been recording the automatic announcements on the Metro for 15 years, providing essential route information and station names for thousands of passengers.<\/p>\n

Up until now only Mark\u2019s friends and family have know that it\u2019s him but now he has stepped forward to share his excitement at being the voice of the new Metro trains as well.<\/p>\n
Mark, 46 of Hebburn in South Tyneside, said: \u201cI always say that it\u2019s my greatest claim to fame.\u00a0It\u2019s quite funny being sat on the Metro and hearing yourself telling yourself what the next stop is going to be. I\u2019ll be sat there next to other customers and nobody will have any inkling that it\u2019s me that they\u2019re listening to.<\/p>\n
\u201cDoing this job for the Metro is absolutely fantastic. I really enjoy it and I\u2019m proud to be the voice of such an important local service. \u00a0All my family and friends know that it\u2019s me, of course, and it\u2019s a frequent talking point. My nephew even used it as a fun fact on a work away day and nobody believed him.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I go out and tell people that I do the Metro voiceovers they usually don\u2019t believe me, until I actually do the voice. I always get asked to say the lines from the Metro announcements. I don\u2019t actually mind. It\u2019s a great bit of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m excited to be voicing the announcements on the new Metro trains. They are so impressive. The technology, including the audio system, is amazing. To be the voice of these new trains is a real coup for me. When the first new train went into customer service I watched the coverage on the local news and I could hear my announcements in the background. It was a proud moment.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mark is a professional broadcaster and runs his own media company based at the Northern Design Centre in Gateshead. The company specialises in TV and video marketing as well as voiceovers.<\/p>\n
Voiceover work also runs in the family as Mark explained: \u201cVoiceover work is a real family affair. My wife, Amanda, is a voiceover artist and is currently the voice of Tyne Tunnel and is also doing work for Sky Sports and ITV. My son, William, who is seven, is currently the voice of Blueline Taxi\u2019s radio adverts.
