{"id":57408,"date":"2025-03-01T18:00:03","date_gmt":"2025-03-01T18:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=57408"},"modified":"2025-02-23T09:00:08","modified_gmt":"2025-02-23T09:00:08","slug":"around-the-world-in-trams-nice-008","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=57408","title":{"rendered":"Around the World in Trams: Nice 008"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The next location for \u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d (as it will be throughout March) will be the French city of Nice.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The current tramway in Nice \u2013 the second largest French city on the Mediterranean coast \u2013 started running in 2007 and its success has seen further extensions come since with the network now being a three line system and a fourth being under construction. Its operates on standard gauge and uses a fleet of Alstom Citadis trams, these are unique to the network and have been designed to blend it with local architecture.<\/p>\n<p>The below photo features <strong>008<\/strong> at Boulevard Jean Jaures on line 1. 008 was built in 2007 as part of the initial order of 20 trams for line 1. As can be seen here, parts of the line have no overhead with the trams also fitted with batteries.
