As we\u2019ve already reported, for three days between Friday 14th<\/sup> February and Sunday 16th<\/sup> February essential engineering work took place at York Place in Edinburgh which meant a change in the service operated by the trams. We\u2019ve previously seen some of the unusual moves during the works and in this article we take a look at some of the work taking place, as well as the sight of closed stops. Roy Calderwood took his camera out.<\/p>\n

As is usual to try and reduce noise during works much of it took place behind solid barriers. This is a view of York Place where you can just make out that work was taking place with machinery behind the barriers. The work was concentrating on replacing the crossover and points here.<\/p><\/div>\n

This image looks eastwards and shows more of the work taking place with old rails having been removed.<\/p><\/div>\n

And back looking to the west at the edge of the worksite with more track seen. The work was completed on schedule to allow trams to resume operation as planned on Monday 17th February.<\/p><\/div>\n

McDonald Road was one of four stops closed to trams. As with all Edinburgh Trams staff were posted to help would be passengers make their onward journeys.<\/p><\/div>\n
