{"id":57268,"date":"2025-02-12T22:00:22","date_gmt":"2025-02-12T22:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=57268"},"modified":"2025-02-12T19:47:36","modified_gmt":"2025-02-12T19:47:36","slug":"west-midlands-metro-urbos3s-back-at-dudley-for-repairs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=57268","title":{"rendered":"West Midlands Metro Urbos3s back at Dudley for repairs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In mid-January 2025 we reported that two West Midlands Metro trams had departed from Wednesbury Depot and as all recent moves had been to Worksop we made an assumption that\u2019s where <strong>34<\/strong> and <strong>36<\/strong> had ended up (especially as they had both been there before). But that was a wrong assumption as the two trams have actually gone to the Very Light Rail Innovation Centre in Dudley where they seem to be undergoing repairs.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>You will no doubt recall that after the fleet of Urbos3 trams was grounded with bodyside cracks a programme of repairs was initiated and this included 11 which were treated at Dudley. <strong>34<\/strong> and <strong>36<\/strong> were not two of those and any repair work they have previously had would have been done internally at Wednesbury.<\/p>\n<p>Its not known whether these latest repairs are related to the bodyside cracks \u2013 <strong>34<\/strong> had been running in service not long before its move and <strong>36<\/strong> is known to have collided with a bus in Birmingham \u2013 but they are visible from outside the Innovation Centre where it can clearly be seen that they are being worked on.<\/p>\n<p>For the record <strong>34<\/strong> left Wednesbury on 17<sup>th<\/sup> January 2025 with <strong>36<\/strong> having departed two days earlier on 15<sup>th<\/sup> January 2025.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_57269\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/dudley-aw.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-57269\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-57269\" src=\"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/dudley-aw-550x292.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"292\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-57269\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A view from outside the workshop at the Very Light Rail Innovation Centre with 34 clearly the tram closest to the window.
