The Edinburgh Trams system is no stranger to winning awards and they could be walking away with more accolades at the end of February following a couple of nominations at the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Awards. Described as Edinburgh\u2019s top awards ceremony, Edinburgh Trams will be competing in the \u201cHigh Growth Business of the Year\u201d and \u201cDirector of the Year\u201d categories.<\/p>\n

The nomination in the \u201cHigh Growth Business of the Year” category comes after a series of milestones for Edinburgh Trams, which has included the recording of more than 12 million customer journeys last year. The trams have seen an increase of over 3 million journeys a year since the Newhaven extension opened in 2023 and to meet these new demands there have been changes introduced to the timetable to make sure they continue to operate a consistent service.<\/p>\n
Managing Director, Lea Harrison, is also nominated in the \u201cDirector of the Year\u201d category. He started his career in the light rail industry as a driver on another system in the UK, and is now leading the team at Edinburgh Trams where his outstanding leadership skills and hands-on approach have proved vital to the success of the business.<\/p>\n
