Its that time when we change theme for \u201cPicture in Time\u201d again and for the next few weeks we\u2019re going to be looking at some modern trams which operate on Dublin\u2019s Luas network.<\/p>\n

The images we\u2019ll be looking at were all taken in 2012 \u2013 which was 13 years ago according to our calendars! \u2013 at which time the network wasn\u2019t quite as large as the one you can enjoy the Irish Republic\u2019s capital city. In 2012 there were two distinct lines \u2013 the green and the red \u2013 and with no connection between the two they were run as separate entities. It was also before construction work had started on the cross city line which saw the green line extended out to Broombridge.<\/p>\n
In the photo we see 3015<\/strong> crossing the River Liffey. As with all the trams in Dublin this is an Alstom Citadis and was part of a batch of Citadis 301s which were built for the opening of the network in 2003-4. Originally a three section tram it was extended in 2007\/8 to the five section vehicle you see in this image. The bridge is the Sam Heuston bridge which is between the Heuston and Museum stops on the Red line.<\/p>\n
