No sooner had\u00a0 full service resumed through Gateshead after repairs to the road flyover then the network was hit by not one, but two issues which have impacted services once again.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Thursday 2<sup>nd<\/sup> January 2025 was meant to be the first day that a full service on the network would operate (although trains had started running again on New Year\u2019s Eve it was still at a reduced frequency) but that didn\u2019t quite go according to plan thanks to two incidents.<\/p>\n<p>The overhead line in the Haymarket area suffered damage and to compound matters a bridge in the Felling area was struck by a road vehicle. The bridge goes over the Metro tracks and there was a risk that debris from the bridge could fall onto the tracks leading to the decision to suspend services under it. The two problems led to services between South Gosforth and Heworth being suspended.<\/p>\n<p>A revised service operated:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>South Gosforth to Airport\/St James<\/li>\n<li>Heworth to South Shields\/South Hylton<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Services did manage to resume in their entirety on the evening of Friday 3<sup>rd<\/sup> January 2025, although they were not running to the normal timetable.
