{"id":56207,"date":"2024-11-30T18:00:35","date_gmt":"2024-11-30T18:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=56207"},"modified":"2024-11-24T08:46:41","modified_gmt":"2024-11-24T08:46:41","slug":"around-the-world-in-trams-milan-1818","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=56207","title":{"rendered":"Around the World in Trams: Milan 1818"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have one last shot from San Francisco in 2002 in this \u201cAround the World in Trams\u201d but this time we move away from the PCCs.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This is Milan \u201cPeter Witt\u201d car <strong>1818<\/strong> which was built in 1928 for operation in the Italian city. Milan had a large fleet of 500 \u201cPeter Witts\u201d and some remain operational in that city to this day. But <strong>1818<\/strong> is one of eleven which have made San Francisco their home. This all came about after one of the class (<strong>1834<\/strong>) visited San Francisco in 1984 for the summer trolley festival and proved so popular Muni decided to get some more in 1998.<\/p>\n<p>This photo shows <strong>1818<\/strong> at Fisherman\u2019s Wharf when carrying the 1970s orange livery.
