A series of high-profile international events have helped to raise the profile of tramways and similar transit systems in the UK. Its also shown how the country\u2019s light rail sector is contributing to initiatives aimed at driving innovation and enhancing safety.<\/p>\n

UKTram Operations Manager, Steve Duckering, recently attended the latest meeting of the UITP, the International Association of Public Transport, where he delivered a presentation on how the sector is working with the LRSSB to enhanced tramway safety.<\/p>\n
Steve commented: \u201cThe meeting in Warsaw, Poland, also received a report from a working group I\u2019ve been assisting that\u2019s looking at the socioeconomic impact of light rail, and it provided a fascinating insight into the many benefits offered by tramways and similar transit systems.<\/p>\n
\u201cDelegates were also able to explore the city\u2019s historic tram network during an event that enabled UKTram to strengthen its international links further while exploring issues such as climate resilience and hydrogen-powered trams.\u201d<\/p>\n
UKTram has also been represented at the annual meeting of the Urban Tram Forum, held in Basel, Switzerland. Managing Director, James Hammett met with light rail leaders from across the world to discuss a host of topics, including driver aid systems, pedestrian crossings and lessons learned from past Olympics and other mega-events.<\/p>\n
